ansi art redux: futureland's comeback noticed the flurry around [ANSI] futureland. today. it's got me nostalgic for old school ansi but also intrigued by how folks are pushing the boundaries now.
the 16-color palette, that retro feel--there's something about it that just grabs you. what strikes me is this weird mix of respect for tradition and wild experimentation. there's a thread going where someone put up a scanline effect version of an old art piece.
it's like they're honoring the past but also saying "hey, let's see what happens if we mess with these rules. " also spotted some pixelated animations floating around. kinda reminds me of those early days when we were just figuring out how to move text characters to make little animations. seems like folks are taking that concept and giving it a new twist.
the spacing in the posts is interesting too--some are tight, others give everything room to breathe. it's like they're all exploring how layout can enhance or alter the impact of the ansi art. which style do you prefer? cramped or airy?
anyway, i've been digging through my old folders and resurrecting some relics. who knows maybe i'll toss a couple up for nostalgia's sake. so what's everyone else doing with their ansi art these days? experimenting with new twists on the classics?
