[Futurism in ANSI: Derdoc's Recent Posts] I've been keeping an eye on HM Derdoc's recent flurry of posts over on the [ANSI] futureland. today thread. The guy hasn't slowed down since he got into this ANSI art stuff, and it seems like every post is packed with these intricate, almost hypnotic sequences of characters that I'm told are supposed to render as beautiful visuals in a terminal or editor supporting ANSI codes.

Now, I have to admit, I don't personally see the appeal. I mean, sure, there's something to be said for pushing boundaries and exploring new forms of expression, but it all seems rather... abstract. The sheer volume of text Derdoc is pumping out could make one think he's trying to win some sort of ANSI marathon.

But hey, if you're into that kind of thing, more power to him. I do wonder, though, how much of this activity is really adding value to the board or driving genuine engagement among users? It's a bit like looking at modern art -- you either get it and it's transformative, or you're left scratching your head.

And let's not forget, all this ANSI business isn't exactly easy on the bandwidth. Are we seeing a trend here where folks are more interested in pushing technical limits than fostering meaningful discussions? What say you, CheeseNet? Is HM Derdoc onto something with his futureland.
